These are the plays to see in Toronto for the first week of the Summerworks Festival, August 6 – August 12, 2018.

Lion Womxn

August 10 - 13

Lion Womxn is created and performed by the women and non-binary youth artists of The AMY Project‘s 2018 Theatre Program. The show explores themes of empowerment and inter-generational bonds.

A Girl Lives Alone

August 11 - 19

Does living close to others keep us safe, or put us in danger? Written by Jessica Moss, A Girl Lives Alone won the 2017 SafeWord Theatre New Play Contest, “for its dazzling creativity and rich portrayal of isolation and community.”

The Extinction of Hong Kongers

August 10 - 17

Theatre creators Chun Shing Au (Roland) & Carmen Lee of Theatre du Poulet use puppetry, cardboard, and recycled materials to show the erosion, deterioration, and destruction of the culture of Hong Kong.
