Show Announcement: The Company Theatre’s Things I Know to be True

The Company Theatre has announced that their next production will be Australian playwright Andrew Bovell’s Things I Know to be True. The production is in partnership with Mirvish Productions as part of their Off-Mirvish series and is set to take the stage in February 2021.
This will be the second time The Company Theatre presents a piece by Bovell, having produced Speaking in Tongues in 2013.
Leading the cast of the production are two of Canada’s most acclaimed actors, Tom McCamus and Seana McKenna, both known for their many years at the Stratford Festival. McCamus was most recently seen at The Shaw Festival and is returning there again this season. McKenna was last seen in Kat Sandler’s play Yaga at the Tarragon theatre and will be returning to the Stratford Festival this season. Subsequent casting for the production will be announced in the coming months.
Company Theatre Artistic Director Philip Riccio is set to direct.
“Things I Know to be True is a beautiful, poignant play about family and love. We’re thrilled to be the first Canadian production of this incredible play, and even more excited to have two of my favourite actors Tom and Seana unite to lead our cast. When I first read the play I saw so much of my own family in it and, as I gave it to others to read, they have said the exact same thing. I know this play will resonate deeply with many.”
Things I Know to be True is the story of a year in the life of the Price family. Bob (McCamus), recently let go from his job at a car factory, and Fran (McKenna), a registered nurse, have raised their four children — Pip, Mia, Ben, and Rosie — the best they could. But a parent’s job is never finished, and as the seasons change Bob and Fran find themselves guiding and supporting their children as they each face life-altering changes that shake the foundation of the once-stable family home.
The Company Theatre’s Things I Know to be True, in partnership with Mirvish Productions, will run at the CAA Theatre in Toronto for a limited engagement, beginning February 1, 2023. For more information, click here.

Announcing the ON Criticism: 2025/26 Theatre Critics Lab cohort
Caelan Beard (Brampton), Alexandrea Marsh (London), Phillip Dwight Morgan (Toronto), Izzy Siebert (London), Joe Szekeres (Oshawa), and Hunter Weaymouth (Hamilton) will work with Intermission senior editor Liam Donovan and editorial director Karen Fricker in this six-month-long training and professional development program.

Stratford names Jonathan Church as its new artistic director

Lighthouse Festival reveals 2026 summer lineup
