The Next Stage Festival in partnership with Intermission Magazine held a panel discussion on digital theatre as part of the Community Booster series.

Watch panelists Rob Kempson and Isaac Thomas in a discussion facilitated by Intermission’s Aisling Murphy. They talk about how the pandemic has required them to pivot their work to a digital platform and how artists and audiences have responded to it. Listen as they share what has worked, what they have learned, and what they are going to do in the unknown future. Is digital theatre a stopgap, or is it here to stay?

“I always question: ‘How am I going to do it?’ But the moment I get in the room with actors, it becomes clear," says Tindyebwa Otu. "We need to tell stories; we need to be in community. Every show I do, I feel like, ‘This could be the last one.’ I’ve felt like this since I became a mom. And yet, 10 years later, I’ve produced more artistic work than ever.”
