Catherine is a theatre practitioner, award-winning author, and the artistic director of b current performing arts. Her first novel, Scarborough, won the Asian Canadian Writers Workshop Emerging Writers Award for the unpublished manuscript, was shortlisted for the Toronto Book Awards, and named one of 100 Best Books of 2017 by Globe and Mail. She was named one of seventeen Writers to Watch by CBC Books.
Sadly, I feel that my writer colleagues who possess race privilege often engage in character origami: folding paper to and fro so it appears three dimensional when, in fact, it’s something that’s just plain flat.
