“I always question: ‘How am I going to do it?’ But the moment I get in the room with actors, it becomes clear," says Tindyebwa Otu. "We need to tell stories; we need to be in community. Every show I do, I feel like, ‘This could be the last one.’ I’ve felt like this since I became a mom. And yet, 10 years later, I’ve produced more artistic work than ever.”

Among softly falling snowflakes, dense rum cake, a tree that twirls of its own accord, and a lively soca rendition of classic carol “My Favourite Things,” The Christmas Market unfolds, gradually steering away from familiar festive comforts toward a sharper story of labour and exploitation.

Canadian Stage reveals 2025-26 programming
World premieres from local playwrights Erin Shields and Kanika Ambrose feature in Canadian Stage’s 2025-26 season, announced this morning. The lineup also includes a Robert Lepage remount and a pair of Tony Award-nominated dramas.
