Casting Announcement: what I call her

/ Jun 5, 2018

The cast has just been announced for what I call herEllie Moons new play about trauma, truth, freedom, and the internet age.

The show will be directed by Sarah Kitz, and will be on stage this winter in Crow’s Theatre’s 2018-19 season.

The three-person cast is comprised of actors Michael Ayres, Ellie Ellwand, and Charlie Gould.

In what I call her, when the estranged mother of 25-year-old Kate is on her death bed, a Facebook post becomes the subject of a heated debate. The play, presented by In Association, is about the gaps in how people perceive and understand the world they live in, female generational rage, and the loneliness of holding onto one’s own truth.

The show runs at Streetcar Crowsnest from November 16 to December 8, 2018. For tickets or more information, click here.

Fun facts: The cast answer the question:

“What’s your most memorable social media moment?”

Michael Ayres

There was a bit of discussion in an online forum about a character I played on a TV show where someone likened me to an Easter Island Statue with Sideshow Bob hair. It still makes me laugh, because where's the lie?

Ellie Ellwand

I got my first email address at age ten. After serious consideration, I settled on the username "creamybananas101" to honour my favourite dessert: banana cream pie. Completely naive to any other innuendo, I was distraught and somewhat offended when Hotmail shut down the account for suspicion of ”inappropriate activity." It took a few years for that penny to drop.

Charlie Gould

My most memorable social media moment was deciding to take a break from it for three years. Facebook had become a very unhealthy place for me. Once I left, I was able to rekindle my love of reading, cultivate some new hobbies, and genuinely connect with my friends in real time. For the first time in a long time I felt like I was finally back in the world.
