CONFEDERATION – PART II: SCANDAL & REBELLION, VideoCabaret
The era of Confederation in four tragicomic one-act plays, presented in two parts. Scandal – Business barons compete to own the hottest technology—the railway lines—and Macdonald is caught trading contracts for donations. Member of Parliament Riel is prevented by fanatics from taking his seat; MP Laurier falls for his best friend’s wife. Rebellion – Riel joins with Gabriel Dumont and Big Bear whose fight for land claims is met with military action and mass starvation. With Laurier protesting, Macdonald allows the execution of Riel, and the Last Spike is hammered.

LESSONS IN TEMPERAMENT, Outside the March
James Smith tunes pianos in various public and private spaces throughout Toronto while exploring the concept of equal temperament as well as his three older brothers’ mental illnesses: obsessive compulsive disorder, autism, and schizophrenia. Smith attempts to grant balance to the instrument that has both kept him grounded and kept him company throughout his life.

MORRO & JASP IN STUPEFACTION, Kabin/U.N.I.T Productions
United in their awe, Morro and Jasp attempt to craft the rules of a new faith, but come up against each other’s ideas of what or who they are worshipping. This turns clown against clown and forces the sisters to ask—can anyone ever truly tell someone else what is worth believing in?
