Aluna Theatre’s RUTAS Festival embraces the complex, the controversial, and the magical
“Communities need a space to come together, to breathe together, to think together, to see the same thing together and see different things in the same thing that they're seeing together,” says Aluna artistic director Beatriz Pizano. “That is the belief that we give this space to, to tell these stories.”

“I really wanted to tell the story of the people who are affected by their loved ones’ addictions. Because I don't think that that is a story that we see very often,” says the creator-performer ahead of the show’s premiere at the Factory Theatre Mainspace.

"From 2010 to the pandemic, [Aluna Theatre's] energy was totally devoted to creating a community of Latinx artists," says this year's Silver Ticket Award recipient. "Now they’ve grown up, and a lot of them are being produced by other companies. Creating that space has been a huge responsibility and I never take it lightly."
