Nomination Announcements: 39th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards

The Dora Mavor Moore Awards—named after the pioneering Canadian actress, director, and teacher—celebrate the best of Toronto theatre. (You can read about last year’s nominees and winners here.) This year’s awards, which will be hosted by Astrid Van Wieren, will take place Monday, June 25 at the Elgin Theatre.

The nominations for this year’s Dora Mavor Moore Awards have been announced! Some highlights:

  • Canadian Stage takes the lead through all divisions with 24 nominations
    The Musical Stage Company soars in the musical theatre division with 21 nominations – 12 for Life After
  • Soulpepper tops general theatre division with 13 nominations – 5 for Idomeneus
    The Theatre Centre is the front runner in the independent theatre division with 12 nominations – 8 for Bears
  • Tapestry Opera leads in the opera division with 18 nominations – 10 for The Overcoat
    DanceWorks flies highest in the dance division with 8 nominations – 5 for Chasing the Path
    Young People’s Theatre heads the theatre for young audiences division with 15 nominations – 5 for Risky Phil
