Theatre This Week: March 2 – 8

Box 4901

February 27 - March 8

In 1992, novelist Brian Francis placed a personals ad in the newspaper. In total, he received 25 responses but there were 13 letters he never responded to. Now, at a much different stage in life, Brian has written replies to those letters. Featuring a cast of 13 queer actors, Box 4901 is a hilarious, strange, sweet, and awkward look back at how gay men used to find one another.

At the Buddies in Bad Times Theatre Chamber until March 8. For tickets and more information, click here.

BRAIN STORM

February 27 - March 8

A visually arresting and comically haunting look at the ramifications of brain surgery and how one woman finds her way in a reality that is forever different. BRAIN STORM takes you into the operating theatre, to dissect the question; are our brains magic, machines – or both?

At Dancemakers Studio 313 until March 8. For tickets and more information click here.

The Events

March 1 - March 15

The Events tells the story of Claire – a female priest who leads a community choir whose members are largely newcomers and immigrants. When the unthinkable happens and the choir suffers immeasurable loss, Claire is left to survive and attempt to understand how someone could do such an awful thing.  The play does not reenact violence, it looks at its aftermath and focuses on how communities find their way forward, even when that seems impossible.

At Crow’s Theatre‘s Guloien Theatre until March 15. For tickets and more information, click here.
